At SMG, we can manage an entire hospital, one part of its operation, or anything in between.
By successfully turning around – and currently managing – a hospital, extended care facility and its clinics, SMG has learned about all the components that make up a well-run healthcare institution. Today, SMG is proud to say that it can manage an entire hospital, or one part of its operation, and anything in between.

SMG was asked to assume management of a Mississippi local government-owned Critical Access Hospital in 2012. The hospital had faced years of physical decline and poor financial performance typical of rural hospitals, and its future had become uncertain.
SMG put an aggressive turnaround plan into place. Patient rooms were renovated, therapy services were expanded and strategic decisions were made about the facility’s service lines. Today, the facility has an 18-bed med/surg unit, a 98-bed extended care facility, three provider-based Rural Health Clinics, and a state of the art gym and wellness center.

SMG currently provides revenue cycle management services to several hospitals across the southeast. The newest partnership established in 2025 is a hospital in Arkansas. When SMG was initially engaged, it performed a comprehensive review of the facility’s existing policies, procedures and personnel, and drew up a plan of action, which was then presented to the hospital’s administrators and key stakeholders, to encourage buy-in.
Since retaining SMG, the hospital has seen improvement in almost every area of its revenue cycle management, including revenue, collections and accounts receivable. Its staff has received extensive on-site training in revenue cycle best practices, and SMG continues to have a regular on-site presence to help put those best practices in place.

SMG creates and manages existing Intensive Outpatient Programs for multiple hospitals across the Southeast. SMG is an expert in the field of both administration of behavioral health programs and the data management software used by hospitals and healthcare systems. SMG provides analysis of the need for, and feasibility of adding an IOP program and best in class ways to optimize existing IOP programs. Once initial analysis is complete, SMG hires and trains necessary personnel, and drafts and installs all necessary policies and procedures to ensure success of the program. SMG oversees these programs with regular on-site supervision to ensure quality and compliance.
SMG HealthSuite is a revolutionary EMR, built from the ground up for IOP's.
SMG HealthSuite is available for a small monthly subscription fee as a standalone service or, for all IOP's managed by SMG, the use of the program is included for free.
